SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the National Policel subscribed a agreement through which the officers of the institution of order may study different Academic programs in the university, especially in the area of Health Sciences

The Rector of INTEC, Dr. Rolando M. Guzmán, and the Director General of the National Police, Major General Nelson Peguero Paredes, signed the agreement in the Rectory room of the academy in the presence of authorities from both institutions. 

The agreement specifies that INTEC and the National Police are committed to the provision of services such as scholarships, seminars, courses, workshops, to the iexchange of documents, internships program and development of joint investigations, among other academic and scientific activities. The officers of the Police would attend INTEC programs in the areas of Health Sciences, Business e Engineering.

"This is a historic event and a dream come true, it is a great opportunity that we can take to the academic classrooms the discussion on citizen security", said the General Director of the National Police when evaluating the agreement.

Similarly, the Rector of INTEC said that the agreement materializes several months of joint work, "a professional officer is of high interest to the nation," he said.

Present Manual of signaling of public roads

After the act of signing the agreement, the authorities of both institutions participated in the presentation of the "Inter-American Manual of traffic control devices on streets and highways", aimed at standardizing the signaling of roads throughout the country, as a way to contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents and the production costs of those notices.

The ceremony, which was held in the Julio Ravelo Room of the INTEC Library Fountain, was presided over by the magistrates President of the Constitutional Court, Milton Ray Guevara; the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Mariano Germán Mejía and the Attorney General of the Republic, Francisco Domínguez Brito. In the same way, by the General Director of the National Police, Major General Nelson Peguero Paredes; the President of the Board of Regents of INTEC, Claudia Franchesca De los Santos; the Rector of the INTEC, Rolando M. Guzmán and the Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Republic, Zoraima Cuello.

Peguero Paredes said that these compilations are the fruit of the interest of many years of study on roads and highways, adding that since he was a lieutenant colonel in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMET), seeing the weakness of the traffic law, he worried in such a way that he began to collect information and investigate.

The work deals with a study of compilations that for years, the Director of the Police has been observing that can be improved, such as the techniques of the directions of transits directed to prevent the accidents of the roads that in many cases bring with it sequels of deaths , mutilated and damaged public and private property.
