World Customs Organization recognizes INTEC


SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) received the Certificate of Merit granting the World Customs Organization (WCO) for being a effective ally of the value growth of that sector, during the celebration of International Customs Day on January 26, which had as its motto "Accompanying the new generation: promoting the exchange of knowledge and fostering pride in the customs profession."

The recognition was delivered at the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), in an act headed by the general director of that agency, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, who valued INTEC because as a higher education academy it impacts the training of professionals who perform the work of monitoring, respecting, promoting and encouraging trade.

La plate and certificate of appreciation were received by the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, alliet ortega, on behalf of the rector of INTEC Julio Sánchez Maríñez.

Likewise, the OMA, through the DGA, recognized 16 public servants with certificates of merit for their performance in their functions in that institution; the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs; and also to the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and APEC.

INTEC contributions to customs in the DR

In 2015, in conjunction with the General Directorate of Customs and the Inter-American Development Bank, INTEC created the National Observatory for Logistics and Cargo Transportation, an instance for the collection of information and analysis, in charge of contributing to the development and increase of performance, competitiveness Logistics in the Dominican Republic, in order to meet the information needs and indicators of the country for decision-making in logistics and cargo transportation, both by the private sector and the public sector.

In 2022, the First National Logistics Report was presented, an initiative of the National Competitiveness Council (CNC), with technical cooperation from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and consulting from the National Observatory of Logistics and Freight Transportation of the Dominican Republic ( ONLT-RD), carried out as part of the efforts aimed at turning the country into the logistics hub of the region.

Likewise, INTEC teaches the Logistics and Transportation Engineering career whose first graduates graduated in April 2022.
