ONAPI and INTEC sign Collaboration Agreement


The National Office of Industrial Property (ONAPI) signed a Collaboration Agreement with the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), for the establishment of a peripheral Technology and Innovation Support Center (CATI), in order to provide guidance and support to researchers, inventors, entrepreneurs and students of that academic center.

The agreement, signed by Messrs. Juan José Báez, General Director of ONAPI and Rolando Guzmán, Rector of INTEC, defines the specific functions and responsibilities of ONAPI and INTEC, with respect to the provision of services by CATI for the benefit of researchers, entrepreneurs and the university community.

The peripheral CATI of INTEC becomes part of the National Network of CATI of ONAPI. Like the other centers of this type put into operation by ONAPI in other universities, this peripheral CATI aims to support and assist users in the search for technical information on patents and distinctive signs, organize and establish basic services and advanced according to their interests, conduct awareness campaigns among their users and periodic reports on their operation.

Through this agreement, signed for a period of two years, ONAPI undertakes to assist and support the INTEC CATI in the search for technical information through access to databases on patents, databases of scientific and technical publications. and national databases of distinctive signs; in addition to providing general information on: industrial property, filing of patent applications, registration of trademarks and industrial designs, among others; as well as basic advice on aspects of industrial property related to the commercialization of products.

ONAPI's contribution includes, among other terms, coordinating the training plan for CATI Periférico staff, monitoring its activities and providing support in the provision of services.

For its part, the contribution of INTEC's CATI will consist of appointing a person in charge of the administration and daily operations of CATI; guide and explain to its users about the basic functions of the services offered and provide assistance to researchers, entrepreneurs and other users in the coordination of their dissemination activities, information on patents and distinctive signs.
