Neuroscience and psychoanalysis, Huberto Bogaert's new book

The editorial stamp of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) published the book Neuroscience and Psychoanalysis, by the outstanding psychologist Huberto Bogaert, which addresses the connections between these fields of science and presents research and clinical cases.

Psychoanalysis tries to understand the nontransferable subjective experience, neurology tries to explain the nervous system objectively. According to the author "For the analyst what is relevant is not the fact, but the meaning that the fact has taken in the history of a subject. The facts are only valid as significant in the history of desire and not as an observable phenomenon. The criterion of validity of psychoanalysis is interpretation. "

The work of Bogaert, who is a Dominican authority in clinical psychology and a professor in the Social Sciences and Humanities Area of INTEC, shows that the field of neurosciences is interdisciplinary and is not reduced to the practice of neurology as a specialty of Medicine, but it includes sciences such as molecular biology and cell biology of the neuron. As empirical-formal sciences, neurosciences turn to the experimental method and verification as validation criteria.

Nelson Moreno Ceballos, from the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic (ACRD) and Tirso Mejía Ricart, an outstanding member of the Academy, presented the book during the release ceremony, in which Rolando M. Guzmán, rector of the INTEC, Ana María Ramos, president of the Board of Regents, Migdalia Martínez, dean of Social Sciences and Humanities, Lucero Arboleda, director of the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library and of the INTEC Editora and Ramón Rosario, director of Publications.

Also Luis Domínguez, coordinator of the career of Psychology, Professor César Castellanos and Manuel Matos Diedoné, among other professionals of the area.
