Degree in Psychology from INTEC, the first with international accreditation in the Dominican Republic


SANTO DOMINGO. - The degree inPsychology of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) received the international accreditation of the National Council for Teaching and Research in Psychology (CNEIP), becoming the first in the country to obtain the endorsement of this body.

With this accreditation, which was granted by five years, the international organization establishes that INTEC offers a SCHEDULE with criteria de quality in its structure, organization, operation, inputs, teaching-learning processes, services, results and social relevance, the quality of its teaching staff and the high valuation of its graduates.

Additionally, the international recognition granted by the accreditation allows graduates to continue positioning themselves in specialized psychological training programs in the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the Dominican Republic.

"Accreditation is a process of institutional and career evaluation, based on criteria and indicators, which certifies a quality training of our students and the social impact of graduates," said Dalul Ordehi, dean of the Social Sciences Area and INTEC Humanities.

The Accreditation Committee of the National Council for Teaching and Research in Psychology (CA-CNEIP) has accredited 110 higher education institutions. The CNEIP was founded in 1971 and is a non-profit organization aimed at assessing the quality of educational programs in psychology, nationally and internationally through the accreditation process.

In addition, the entity fosters in higher education institutions a culture of continuous improvement, encourages the performance of the programs to reach national and international quality parameters and contributes to the availability of sufficient resources and suitable mechanisms.

To achieve international endorsement, INTEC went through a demanding review process that evaluated ten components and 119 indicators. The 10 categories evaluated by the CA-CNEIP in each of the psychology degree programs were organized into six work groups represented by students, graduates, professors, collaborators and managers.

Dean Ordehi highlighted that INTEC has closely followed the self-assessment process guided by the protocols and indicators proposed by the agency. The work methodology was based on the institutional learning acquired from the accreditations it has received in the academy by the Accreditation System for Regional Engineering of the Greater Caribbean (GCREAS), the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) and the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

About the Bachelor of Psychology

The professional graduated from the INTEC Psychology degree will develop the skills required to study and accompany individuals and groups in the development of cognitive, affective, behavioral and interpersonal processes, from a transdisciplinary perspective, focused on the well-being of society.

Graduates can work in companies or organizations, in any of the areas of human talent management, as well as in intervention to improve coexistence in organizations. In the same way, it can work in the social field, in governmental and non-governmental organizations, including educational centers, specific communities, work with vulnerable populations, emotional well-being, among others.

They can also work in hospitals, clinics and private practices, as psychotherapists or as evaluators for both the clinical and vocational areas.

The degree has three concentrations: Clinical Psychology, which allows to perform both in the prevention and intervention in mental health, as well as in the accompaniment of personal and group development processes; Social and organizational psychology, empowers to dedicate to the design, development and evaluation of social projects; and Human development and education, which provides tools to offer counseling and socio-psychopedagogical personal, family and institutional support.
