Board of Regents ratifies the Academic Vice-Rector, Arturo del Villar, in his functions

SANTO DOMINGO. The members of the Board of Regents of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) ratified the Academic Vice-Rector, Arturo del Villar, in his functions for a second period of management corresponding to the period 2024-2027.
Unanimously, the members of the management and legal representation body of the university valued the career and contributions of the vice-rector, through his management report, performance evaluations, and the recommendation of the Academic Council..
In their conclusions, the members of the organization expressed “Engineer Del Villar has done a great job in reorganizing various aspects of academic life and in significant improvements for teaching development. Likewise, his commitment and dedication to the university was valued, as well as his effort to achieve its objectives.
Del Villar is an industrial engineer graduated from INTEC and has an MBA with a concentration in Corporate Finance from Georgia State University. Additionally, he has a certificate in Operations Research from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in Development Economics and International Development from Oglethorpe University. Additionally, he has a specialization in Export and Import Business at Mercer University.
He worked in Scientific Atlanta in the area of Quality Control, for six years reaching the position of Operations Manager. In Miami he worked for Teicorp International, a subsidiary of Hubbard Construction, one of the main companies in the construction of large projects as Senior Engineer. Del Villar is a member of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Republic chapter of the World Energy Council (WEC).
In 2014 he joined teaching, as a professor in the INTEC Engineering Area and held the position of Dean for two consecutive periods, 2015 to 2018 and 2019 to 2021.
According to what is established by the Regulations for the Selection and Appointment of the Rector and Vice-Rectors of the INTEC in its article 20, the Board of Regents is the body empowered to ratify a vice-rector, while the Rector's Office is responsible for conducting an evaluation process, taking into consideration the performance with respect to the university's plans and presenting a report to the Academic Council, for consultation.
The Board of Regents is the highest governing body of INTEC and the legal administrator of its assets. It is made up of 15 members, who include the rector and who are prominent people in Dominican society who perform functions voluntarily and honorably. By statutory mandate, the majority of its members are university graduates.
