Intecianos prepare for global marketing competition

Santo Domingo. Seven teams made up of 19 students from INTEC's Business Area, prepare to participate in the global marketing competition known as the "Global Marketing Competition". All of them, with high academic indexes, belong to the careers of Administration, Accounting, Economy and Marketing, and have the advice of the professors and coordinators Bernardo Echavarría and Oliver Cruz.

The competition in which 800 universities participate annually with 4,000 representatives from all over the world, this year will consist in the simulation of a global automotive company, which will be forged, managed and managed by the participants.

Students must make decisions at a strategic and operational level about where to establish the company, the development of new products, finance and treasury, production, human resources, marketing and other areas that guarantee the sustainability of the company, demonstrating in a competitive environment theoretical knowledge learned in classrooms. After exhausting four online elimination phases and a face-to-face final in Madrid, the first six places are awarded prizes, including 25,000 euros and master's scholarships at the ESIC Business & Marketing School in Spain.

To help students know what kind of decisions they can face during the simulation, last Wednesday, October 19, INTEC received the visit as an expert lecturer from Engineer Diego Fernández, Director of Marketing and Sales of Grupo VIAMAR, who is also a graduate of the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES).

At the meeting, which aimed to provide participants with a conceptual framework of good practices in automotive management, Fernandez explained what are the rules that a successful automotive company should follow, based on the experience of VIAMAR, an entity that has managed to triple its participation in the Dominican market in less than five years. "Pursue your dreams" urged the graduated PIES, motivating these students to win the competition.

Fernando Fondeur, administration student who participated in the talk, commented: "we must work together as a team, have a defined strategic plan and a clear goal".

For her part, Monika Acosta, from the same race, expressed that the talk was an inspiring experience that allowed them as students, to confirm not only the prestige of the VIAMAR company, but also the importance of having a plan and a team that aspire to a common dream and the benefits of having the desire to achieve it. While the president of the Committee of Business Students (CENIT), Jan Groennu expressed his desire to take the name of INTEC to the top. "I'm not afraid to compete with the best universities in the world."

Professor Oliver Cruz, Coordinator of the Marketing Race, closed the meeting by thanking Diego Fernández for his visit and contributions and informed that the Global Marketing Competition ends its first phases in the third week of December, after having started the 21 in October. The final session will be held mid-2012 in Madrid, Spain.
