INTEC and YMAYA Lean Academy sign agreement to promote training in operational excellence and sustainability

Both institutions are committed to the development of operational excellence in the country through academic activities, international certifications and training.

SANTO DOMINGO - Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and Ymaya Lean Academy (YLA) signed a collaboration agreement through which they will carry out academic activities such as programs, international certifications and training activities that promote productivity, sustainability and continuous improvement in the business and academic fields.

The signing of the agreement was carried out by Julio Sanchez Marinez, rector of INTEC, and Albanian Ymaya, INTEC Outstanding Graduate of 2023 and CEO of YMAYA Lean Academy, who highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to contribute to the development of operational excellence in the country.

Sánchez Maríñez praised Ymaya's contribution, who joins Henry Veloz, a distinguished INTEC graduate and CEO of HV Civil Group, who signed a collaboration agreement with his alma mater that same week.

“To go further, we have to think about Lean Operations,” said Sánchez Maríñez, referring to the Toyota Production System, which uses agile methodologies to minimize losses and maximize added value for the end customer.

Albanesa Ymaya recalled her days as a student at the university and valued the opportunity to contribute to her alma mater. “Today I stand before all of you with a heart full of gratitude and pride. This moment is truly much more than the signing of an agreement. This represents the achievement of a dream that connects my personal history with my professional commitment,” she said.

Ymaya also said that “INTEC, my alma mater, not only trained me as an industrial engineer, but also instilled in me a passion for excellence, innovation and a desire to transform realities from the classroom.”

Through the agreement, which is valid for five years, both institutions will implement joint projects, including programs such as certification in the Toyota Production System (TPS) program and the Kaikaku Practitioner, in which a 50% discount will be granted to INTEC personnel. The university agrees to grant five scholarships in continuing education programs for members of Ymaya Lean Academy who may be interested, per year.

Among the certifications relations, They will develop programs such as Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt y Green Belt, offering partial and full scholarships for INTEC teachers and administrative staff.

A teaching or administrative staff may be part of the Lean Japan Tour, a learning experience in Japan that allows you to delve deeper into the principles of the Toyota Production System.
