INTEC and University of Perpignan, France, will develop research in science


SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the University of Perpignan, Via Domitia (UPVD), France, will carry out research projects in science and for master's degree development and doctorates in the Areas of Engineering and Basic Sciences, for topics of renewable energy and energy management.

During an official visit to the headquarters of the UPVD in France, the Vice Chancellor of Research and Liaison of INTEC, Víctor Gómez-Valenzuela, signed a memorandum of understanding with the President of the University of Perpignan, Via Domitia, Xavier Py, which also contemplates the creation of a national doctoral program en Renewable Energies and the Environment, exchanges of students, teachers, researchers and administrative staff, and collaboration in research.

Additionally, the alliance contemplates joint publications and co-tutorials with the participants of the doctorates in Environmental Sciences, the first national doctorate in sciences of the Dominican Republic; and the doctorate in Energy Management for Sustainable Development, assigned to the Area of ​​Basic and Environmental Sciences of INTEC.

Gómez-Valenzuela's visit occurred as part of an official delegation that was also made up of the Vice Minister of International Relations of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT), Narciso Reyes Cabrera, and a representation of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in France. There they were also received by Didier Aussel, Vice President for International Relations of the University of Perpignan Via Domitia.

The participants had the opportunity to visit the university laboratories of the campus of the UPVD for two days and exchange with teachers and researchers from that academy, to develop cooperation in the fields of renewable energies, the marine environment, the biotechnology and the tourism management.
