INTEC and University of Illinois sign agreement


SANTO DOMINGO. The students of Civil Engineering of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) will be able to obtain the degree degree of that university and of post graduate of the University of Illinois campus Urbana-Champaign in just five years, through a collaboration agreement recently signed by both institutions.

El 3 + 2 program was signed by the president of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzmán and the acting chancellor Barbara wilson from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; The document was also signed by the Vice Chancellor for International Affairs and Global Strategy, Reitumetse Obakeng and the Dean of Engineering, Andreas Cangellaris, from that American academy.

The agreement joins the wide range of innovative programs through which INTEC allows its students to study part of the career in the country and the other in prestigious academies in the United States such as Penn State University, University of Miami, City College of New York and Western Michigan University, receiving foreign degrees.

After completing his postgraduate studies through the 3 + 2 program, students may choose a PhD at the University of Illinois Urban-Champaign campus.

The director of International Programs at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Erol Tutumluer, recently visited INTEC in order to follow up on the points of the agreement. As part of the agenda, he paid a visit to the rector Rolando M. Guzmán, the dean of the Engineering Area, Arturo del Villar, and the laboratories in that area. In addition, Tutumluer gave a lecture for engineering students about the opportunities offered by the University of Illinois.
