INTEC and RICOH Dominicana inaugurate the first Immersive Digital Classrooms in the country
The classrooms have cutting-edge technology that allows an interactive and immersive educational experience, combining face-to-face education with virtual education, connecting multiple classrooms at the same time and integrating students and teachers who are at a distance
SANTO DOMINGO. – In its constant commitment to promote cutting-edge technological education in the country, Ricoh Dominicana has successfully completed the automation of two digital and immersive classrooms in the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). This project aims to modernize educational spaces and offer students and teachers technological tools that optimize the teaching and learning experience.
The new automated classrooms are equipped with a state-of-the-art videoconferencing system, interactive screens and advanced connectivity solutions. These innovations allow the integration of hybrid teaching methods, combining face-to-face and virtual education, connecting multiple classrooms at the same time and integrating students who are remote. INTEC also hopes that teachers located outside the country will be able to teach classes to students who are physically on the Santo Domingo campus and/or connected, as well as record and play back sessions.
Ricoh’s solution offers an interactive and immersive educational experience, allowing students to share practical exercises, analyze business cases and even collaborate on a single virtual whiteboard. The audio system is remote-controlled, minimizing noise and using state-of-the-art technologies to ensure clear communication. Each classroom has an external display from which the teacher and/or students can reserve space, check current or scheduled sessions, and customize messages.
Ismael Castillo, General Manager of Ricoh Dominicana, expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of the project: “We are committed to supporting the digital transformation of educational institutions. This type of initiative reinforces our purpose of creating more collaborative and efficient environments, both for students and teachers.”
While, Julio Sanchez Mariñez, Rector of INTEC, expressed his gratitude towards Ricoh Dominicana, highlighting that this alliance reflects the commitment of both institutions to innovation and continuous improvement of educational quality: “This initiative reinforces INTEC's mission to be at the forefront of higher education in the Dominican Republic, while strengthening ties with strategic allies such as Ricoh Dominicana.”
