INTEC and Logos Editions promote teacher development with a workshop on Project-Based Learning.
Organized by Logos Editions and the Center for Educational Studies of INTEC, the workshop trained more than 60 secondary school teachers.
SANTO DOMINGO. — Around 65 secondary school teachers participated in the workshop “Comprehensive Education: Project-Based Learning” by Logos Editions in collaboration with Educational Studies Center of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).
The meeting led by Professor Jimena Rosales had the purpose of inviting educators to reflect on the need to update their teaching methodologies to respond to the educational demands of the 21st century, exploring in depth the Project Based Learning (ABP) as a tool to promote more active, participatory and meaningful learning experiences.
During the day, essential skills that students need to develop today were analyzed, such as: Self-knowledge, communication, critical and creative thinking, cooperation and emotional development. Likewise, key topics were addressed such as the difference between the traditional approach and the active approach, and practical examples were shared for implementing PBL in the classroom.
Jimena Rosales, guest speaker from Argentina and Co-author of the collection “Challenges. Comprehensive project-based education”He stressed that “Learning by doing transforms education because it connects theory with real life and enhances skills.”.
“Unlike the traditional approach, the active approach encourages the development and enhancement of life skills, abilities, and attitudes,” was one of the lessons learned by the participating teachers.
Anonymously, during a paper airplane activity, he asserted that "understanding is broadening one's perspective, opening a new world, and appropriating knowledge to the point of feeling it as our own."
