INTEC and CONEP evaluate strategies to raise the quality of education in the DR

SANTO DOMINGO. The rector of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Julio Sánchez Maríñez, held a meeting with the President of the National Council for Private Enterprise (CONEP), Celso Juan Marranzini, with the aim of establishing spaces for collaboration between the private sector and academia to develop initiatives that improve the quality of education in the Dominican Republic.

During the meeting, in which the vice president of CONEP, César Dargam; Amelia Vicini, President of INICIA Education and Roberto Herrera, president of the American Chamber of Commerce (Amchamrd) and member of the Board of Regents of INTEC, exchanged about some of the main challenges of education and the main trends at a national and international level .

They highlighted the importance of the higher technical level, the need to create educational solutions focused on technical training, the development of micro masters, the promotion of science, engineering and technology programs and, in general, the adjustment of programs to the requirements of higher education, for which they agreed on the need to update the current norms and regulations of the sector.

In that order, the rector of INTEC stated that business leadership must assume pre-university and higher education as part of its permanent agenda and of the tenth Business Conference 2023, an event that brings together the entire membership grouped in the business leadership body and that will be done soon.

The rector of INTEC extended an invitation to the executives of CONEP and its entire board of directors to visit the university in order to present its Institutional Strategy 2023-2027, and its plans for linking with the productive sector.

The authorities of the Tecnológico de Santo Domingo hold strategic meetings with representatives of the various productive sectors in the interest of developing linkage projects that allow an impact on the quality of basic and higher education through triple helix alliances. Among these initiatives are the installation of the first Learning Factory in the country, a space for knowledge creation through university-business cooperation, and the opening of Industrial Doctorates inspired by the European experience with this modality.
