INTEC and CAF close third cohort of the Diploma in Governance and Public Innovation
The third edition seeks to contribute to institutional strengthening through the training of leaders in the region
SANTO DOMINGO. - El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), in alliance with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and 18 Ibero-American universities, held the closing ceremony of the third cohort of the Diploma in Governance and Public Innovation.
With a duration of six months, this training combined classes and materials provided by CAF with face-to-face sessions at INTEC. The 38 graduates presented seven innovative projects, designed under the methodology of Design Thinking, which address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Quality Education, Climate Action, Reduction of Inequalities, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, among others.
The closing ceremony that took place in the INTEC Social Security Auditorium, was attended by the Shajira Nazir, dean of the Department of Economics and Business at INTEC, Carlos Reyes, Director of Continuing Education y Marielvi Piñero, academic coordinator of the diploma. In turn, the following attended tutors Richard Medina and Ingrid Gonzalez, graduates and family members.
Nazir congratulated the graduates for their dedication, effort, and commitment, and inspired the participants to be leaders and agents of change through innovation for the improvement of services, efficiency in processes, and the creation of public policies that respond effectively to the needs of citizens with confidence in institutions and the active participation of society.
Representing CAF, he was present in virtual mode Pablo Rolando, general coordinator of the Diploma who extended his congratulations and explained the importance of this training for new leaders for Latin America.
The words on behalf of the participants were given by Sandra Hilario, coordinator of the Social Control Department of the Chamber of Accounts, who expressed her satisfaction with the training, while valuing its impact on her professional growth.
From the projects presented and preselected by the Department of Economics and Business, CAF chose “Construction and demolition waste management for employment and access to housing for women” to participate in an International Bootcamp, to be held from December 9 to 13.
The members of the winning team are Wander Josué Peña Navarro and Marlyn Rodríguez Gómez from the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity (DIGEIG); Laura Henríquez, Vanessa Lopez and Carlos Ramos from the Ministry of Finance and María Carolina Alvarado Bolaños from the Ministry of Women.
The project “JURIDIKA Proposal for a solution to the lack of transparency and efficiency in judicial processes and guarantees regarding the protection of information in the National District” was also presented by Sandra Hilario, Vicente Miguel of the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency, Daniel Sánchez Rodríguez, student of International Relations at UNICARIBE; Stanley Espinosa and Geovanny Rosario of the Ministry of Finance; María Inés Pérez, Daviana Bello and José Almonte Ramírez, from DIGEIG.
Also, “Virtual academy of technical and soft skills for migrants in the Dominican Republic”, presented by Carlixto Juliao of the Ministry of Finance and the ENLATA Foundation.
The third edition of Diploma in Governance and Public Innovation It seeks to contribute to institutional strengthening by training leaders in the region to effectively perform their duties, from a perspective that seeks to ensure an appropriate balance of political, economic, social, climatic and gender variables. It also seeks to discuss strategic issues of sustainable development in the region.
