INTEC and AI Robotix sign strategic agreement to boost innovative Alzheimer's research project
SANTO DOMINGO — The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the American company AI Robotix signed an academic, scientific and technological collaboration agreement with the aim of understanding, modeling and comprehensively addressing Alzheimer's disease.
The ambitious medical research initiative led by AI Robotix, known as “Project Alzheimer,” is an advanced research program that integrates artificial intelligence, neuroscience, molecular biology, and data science, in which INTEC will participate as a strategic, academic, and clinical partner.
Unlike traditional approaches focused on single hypotheses, the Alzheimer Project seeks to identify complex patterns, causal relationships, and new insights that currently remain fragmented or inaccessible through conventional methods.
Through a progressive, structured, and verifiable research framework, the project aims to generate actionable knowledge, predictive models, and scientifically validated findings that significantly contribute to the global advancement of Alzheimer's research, with a view to achieving a definitive solution for this disease.
During the signing of the agreement, INTEC Rector Arturo Del Villar stated that the university and its team of researchers are motivated to be part of this high-impact initiative that could change people's lives. “This project represents an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to the search for solutions to a disease that affects more than 55 million people worldwide. This type of initiative is fully aligned with our institution's academic and scientific mission.”
Meanwhile, Juan Carlos Guilbe, founder of AI Robotix and director of the Alzheimer's Project, emphasized the importance of the university's involvement. “The addition of INTEC significantly strengthens our scientific capabilities and increases the project's potential for success. We are combining academic talent with the most advanced artificial intelligence models to address one of the greatest challenges in modern medicine,” he explained.
Currently, a new case of dementia is diagnosed every three seconds worldwide, a reality that underscores the urgency of developing innovative and effective solutions for this disease.
The agreement between INTEC and AI Robotix marks a significant step in the collaboration between academia and technology, positioning the Dominican Republic as a relevant player in global Alzheimer's research.
AI Robotix is an artificial intelligence solutions company headquartered in Cupertino, California. It conducts AI-based research to address healthcare and business issues.
