INTEC joins CODESSD; entities sign agreement to promote sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) became a new institutional member of the Santo Domingo Economic and Social Development Council (CODESSD) with the signing of a collaboration agreement that will allow both entities to work together on key initiatives for sustainable development, social innovation, and the transformation of the country.
The agreement, signed by INTEC's acting rector, Alliet Ortega, and CODESSD president, Samuel Sena, aims to coordinate cooperative actions to promote continuing education, contribute to dialogue, and influence the formulation of public policies in strategic areas for national economic and social development, sustainability, and support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
At the signing ceremony held at INTEC's Social Security Auditorium, Ortega stated that the agreement is part of the triple helix approach that was a focal point during the administration of the late rector, Julio Sánchez Maríñez, and is now part of his legacy.
"This agreement not only symbolizes the willingness of INTEC and CODESSD to work together, but also establishes a concrete foundation for jointly promoting key initiatives in areas fundamental to our country's development, such as sustainability, climate change, economic studies, and applied research in the service of public policy and social welfare," said the university's acting rector.
For its part, Sena indicated that, by formalizing a collaboration agreement with INTEC, CODESSD elevates the work they have been doing for eight years. "This agreement will be enriching for our membership, INTEC students, and society in general."
"INTEC's entry into CODESSD represents an important step toward strengthening the country's institutional capacities to promote more inclusive, sustainable, and democratic development," said Sena.
As part of the protocol, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the recently deceased rector of INTEC, Dr. Julio Sánchez Mariñez, whose legacy was remembered as an inspiration to continue promoting transformative alliances.
Following the signing of the agreement, the entities will coordinate cooperative actions for continuing education, strengthening social and academic dialogue, and jointly influencing the development of public policies in various areas.
The profiles of both institutions were highlighted during the event. INTEC, founded in 1972, is recognized for its commitment to social transformation through educational innovation, while CODESSD is a multi-sector consultative body focused on promoting economic, social, and cultural development programs.
