INTEC represents the Dominican Republic in the Seventh World Congress on Environmental Education


Networks of universities and centers from all continents gathered in Morocco to strengthen alliances in the field

SANTO DOMINGO. The Environmental Network of Dominican Universities (RAUDO), which coordinates the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), represented the Dominican Republic in the Seventh World Congress on Environmental Education, which was held in Marrakesh, Morocco.


Rosaura Pimentel, president of RAUDO 2012-2014 and coordinator of the master's program in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering at INTEC, represented the Dominican network at the invitation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).


The conclave, held from the 9 to the 14 in June, has among its objectives favor the creation of alliances and the rapprochement between the representatives of environmental networks of several universities from all continents. Among the representatives of Latin America that attended the meeting, Orlando Sáenz, Coordinator of the Alliance of Ibero-American Networks of Universities for Sustainability and the Environment (ARIUSA), Germán Rodríguez, Coordinator of the National Training and Environmental Research Network of Guatemala ( REDFIA).


Also Indiana Basterra, Coordinator of the Argentine Network of Universities for Sustainability and the Environment (RAUSA), Manrique Arguedas of the Costa Rican Network of Sustainable Educational Institutions (REDIES) and Ricardo Bravo of the University of Valparaíso in Chile.


red-medioambiente.jpg Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo - INTEC represents the Dominican Republic in the Seventh World Congress of Environmental Education RAUDO is a non-profit association of some 16 Dominican institutions of higher education, which works to achieve the sustainable development of the country, through the production and dissemination of environmental knowledge in the academic community and society in general. Its fundamental objective is to articulate the potential of higher education institutions for the dissemination of topics related to environmental sustainability from education, research and extension.


The 2012-2014 Board of Directors is also composed of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), represented by Master Miledy Alberto, in the vice presidency. The Open University for Adults (UAPA), represented by Dr. Luz Rosa Estrella, occupies the General Secretariat, the treasury is in charge of the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), represented by Dr. Milagros Rodríguez, and as members are the Universities Technological of Santiago (UTESA), Catholic Nordestana, (UCNE), and the Technological Institute of the Eastern Cibao, (ITECO), represented by Aura Espaillat, Florencio de la Cruz and Jaime Acosta, respectively.

RAUDO is also composed of the Fernando Arturo de Meriño Agroforestry University (UAFAM), the APEC University (UNAPEC), the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD), the Barahona Catholic University of Technology (UCATEBA). As well as by the Universidad Catolica Tecnológica del Cibao (UCATECI), the Universidad Central del Este (UCE), the ISA University, the National Evangelical University (UNEV), and the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU).
