INTEC recognizes the work of Professor José Cruz


El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), awarded a recognition to Professor José R. Cruz, founder of the Careers of Orientation and Psychology of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña University (UNPHU), for his hard work in State universities, as well as in schools and colleges of the Republic Dominicana, Miami and Chicago.

The rector of INTEC, Miguel J. Escala, presented the recognition in the framework of the "V International Seminar on School Orientation", whose main theme was "Factors of protection in the construction of the life project of the adolescent". Cruz himself was responsible for delivering the opening keynote lecture entitled "Analysis of School Counseling or School Counseling in Florida", where the speaker referred to his experience of the psychological orientation of the UNPHU in 1967 to the new perspective of his current position as a school counselor in Florida.

Professor Cruz also founded Casa Abierta, the professional center for the prevention and treatment of problems related to the consumption of prohibited substances. A graduate of Andrés Bello Catholic University, in Caracas, Venezuela, José Cruz holds a Master's degree in Education from the Loyola University of Chicago, a PhD in Education and Leadership Program at Barry University and doctoral studies in University Teaching from Florida International University Currently School Counselor, in Miami-Dade County Public School System, Florida.

At the ceremony that took place in the Osvaldo García de la Concha auditorium of the aforementioned university, there were present directive and technical personnel from educational centers, psychologists, counselors and representatives of companies and institutions linked to the education sector.
