INTEC recognizes the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes for its contribution to the development of the triple helix model in the country


Through a resolution of the Academic Council, the university highlighted the commendable work of the minister, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, and the team of his vice ministers, for facilitating the link between the government, academia and companies

SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) recognized the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) in the persons of its minister and vice ministers, for its outstanding role in promoting and facilitating the link between government, academia and companies, developing the triple helix model, in favor of the productive and competitive development of the country.

Through resolution 2024058-15/20 of its Academic Council, INTEC recognized the leadership of the minister, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, for the facilitation of collaborative initiatives between various actors with a view to contributing to the development of the country. Participating in these initiatives in the triple helix model, INTEC has assumed positioning as a preferred partner of the productive sectors for development as one of its purposes of the Institutional Strategy 2027.

In the event held in the Social Security Auditorium of the university campus, Julio Sánchez Maríñez, rector of INTEC, recognized that the triple helix approach in the country has had a rebound with the impetus of the current management of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs. The event was attended by management personnel from the MICM and INTEC, as well as special guests.

“Thank you Minister Bisonó Haza for allowing us to be honored with this very well-deserved recognition of your vision and management in the Ministry under your charge and thank you to your team of vice ministers for also enrolling in this triple helix approach that is so necessary and so promising for inclusive development, competitive and sustainable of our country,” said Sánchez Maríñez.

In his speech, Minister Bisonó highlighted that, “from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs we have worked tirelessly to promote policies and programs that promote productivity and sustainable economic growth. In this work, cooperation with the private sector and educational institutions, such as the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), has been fundamental.”

He maintained that the triple helix model is the perfect support to catapult the result of our best capabilities at the service of the real needs of national production.

"The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), the country's leading research university, plays a fundamental role in the efforts we are making to strengthen the academic ecosystem necessary to promote the semiconductor industry in the nation,” Bisonó said.

The resolution through which INTEC granted the recognition highlights that through the Vice Ministry of Industrial Development, headed by Vice Minister Fantino Polanco, the Ministry has played a leading role, in collaboration with the Dominican Association of the Plastics Industry (ADIPLAST) in the launch, development and sustainability of the Plastic Training and Research Center, installed at INTEC, which develops an extensive training program in coordination with ADIPLAST, the National Institute of Professional Technical Training (INFOTEP) and the Plastic Training and Research Center (CCIP), from Colombia. Also, the design and opening of a concentration in Plastics, as part of the academic offering of the Engineering Area.

Additionally, the resolution of the INTEC Academic Council highlights that the MICM has promoted, in collaboration with the National Intellectual Property Office (ONAPI), the Design with Industry program, through which collaboration is promoted between the government, universities and local manufacturing companies, with the participation of students of Industrial Design and other engineering programs of the academy.

The participation of the Vice Ministry of Foreign Trade stands out, with the leadership of Vice Minister Vilma Arbaje, in support of the International Trade Observatory (ODCI) of the university, as well as the support of the Vice Ministry of Promotion of MSMEs, headed by Vice Minister Jorge Guillermo Morales Paulino, for the installation of the INTEC Mipymes Center and its transformation into a center specialized in technological development of companies.

It highlights that the MICM has offered its support to the development of the Learning Factory Program by INTEC with the collaboration of Pennsylvania State University, a pioneering program in the country in which final students from different careers work in collaboration with sponsoring companies to serve specific needs and solve real challenges and problems they face.
