INTEC promotes the development of reliable digital infrastructures at international forum

The university's rector, Arturo Del Villar, stressed the urgent need to strengthen technical talent, cybersecurity, and regional partnerships to accelerate the technological development of the Caribbean.

PUNTA CANA. - The rector of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Arturo Del Villar, advocated for the construction of trusted digital infrastructure to boost national development, during the celebration of the international forum “US Caribbean Accelerating Digital Transformation: A case for trusted infrastructure in the Caribbean”.

During the event, Del Villar emphasized that the true digital transformation of the Caribbean depends not only on the deployment of high-speed networks or advanced telecommunications, but fundamentally on the creation of an ecosystem based on trust, skilled talent, and operational resilience.

"Digital infrastructure is now the backbone of economic development and the sovereignty of our nations. Building trusted infrastructure requires a joint effort where academia plays a key role, training the specialized human capital in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and advanced engineering that the region demands," said the rector of INTEC.

The Forum, organized by the U.S. Embassy in the country, featured a keynote address by the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and SMEs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón. The event brings together government leaders, diplomats, technology executives, and academics from the United States and the Caribbean to address critical challenges related to connectivity, cybersecurity, and reliable technology infrastructure in the region.

INTEC's presence at the international forum consolidates the university's position as a key ally in defining public policies and regional technological strategies, promoting scientific and academic solutions to the challenges of the country's digital economy.
