INTEC presents results of 24 research on Health issues


SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) celebrated this Friday the 64ta. Bio-INTEC Scientific Conference, where the results of 24 research on health topics were presented, carried out by term students of the Health Sciences and Basic and Environmental Sciences of the academy.

The activity was carried out in the Julio Ravelo room of the Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi Library Fountain, with the objective of promoting the training of medical personnel with scientific research knowledge, and to be interested in subjects that respond to the current health needs of social environment

"Frequency of the main complications in adolescents housed in puerperium (Post-partum) wards", "Incidence of Human Papillomavirus in patients attending the cervical pathology clinic" and "Determination of the main causes of mortality in patients with Chronic Renal Insufficiency ", are some of the studies presented during Bio-INTEC.

Also "Evaluation in the Progress of the Food Habits in Obese Patients undergoing Gastric Sleeve Surgery", "Incidence of Strabismus in Children from 0 to 8 Years of Age of Pediatric Ophthalmology Consultation of a Hospital in Santo Domingo", "Incidence of Anxiety and Depression in Patients Addicted to Psychoactive Substances between the ages of 15 and 35 "and" Frequency of Anesthetic Procedures in a Hospital of Santo Domingo ", among others.

The Bio-INTEC Scientific Conference began in the year 1983 with the theme "For the re-encounter between Science and Life" and is organized by the Health Sciences and Basic and Environmental Sciences of INTEC, with the participation of the Department of Humanities and Vice-rectorship of Research and Liaison.

Among the objectives of the activity is to develop in the future health professionals in methodological skills to train in the research process, encourage teamwork and induce the search for alternatives and solutions to the problems in the health system.
