Profile

He was born in the United States, where he lived his first years and received his primary education. He finished high school in 1975 at the School of La Salle, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

He studied Civil Engineering at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University, where he developed an affinity for hydrology and hydraulics and conceived the design of the current hydraulics laboratory of that institution.

Before finishing two postgraduate courses and for several years he worked as a design engineer in important civil works such as dams and hydroelectric power stations in Dominican Republic.

Upon his return to the country, Casasnovas Rodríguez was hired by Citibank, to work in Product Management, where he immersed himself in the world of business and its financial management. There his main responsibility was to develop Electronic Banking, which in that pre-internet era, was the frontier of technological development applied to the company. After that period in the banking market, he entered the commercial area, where he acquired extensive practical experience in commercial operations and logistics.

Casasnovas spent several years working at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), as a lecturer of statistics for both Business Administration and Economics majors.

The acquired experiences gave him the tools to establish and manage for 11 years a company dedicated to logistics activity, customs management, consolidation, storage, transportation and general cargo handling services. After this, the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo hired him as Administrative and Financial Director, a position he held until recently.
