The university is part of the Executive Commission, created by decree with the mission of overseeing the 15 immigration control measures announced by the Government at the beginning of April.

Santo Domingo. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) participated in the first meeting of the Migration Policy Observatory in his capacity as a member of the Executive Committee, together with representatives of public and private institutions, formalizing its establishment as a plural and independent body.

The commission, which is chaired by the director of the Listín Diario newspaper, Miguel Franjul, is tasked with overseeing the 15 immigration control measures announced by the government at the beginning of April to combat irregular immigration and ensure national security.

The Migration Policy Observatory was created through the Decree 215-25, issued by President Luis Abinader, as a space for citizen exchange aimed at strengthening organized surveillance, transparency, and civil society participation in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of the Dominican State's migration policies.

The decree establishes that the members will exercise their functions in an honorary manner and that the Observatory will operate under the functional dependence of the National Migration Council.

During the first working meeting held at the headquarters of the Listín Diario newspaper, the Commission members approved the work plan to be implemented by the Observatory, aimed at meeting the general objectives established in the Decree, as well as the internal regulations that will govern it and the communications plan that will be implemented, among other decisions.

The meeting was chaired by the director of Listín Diario and president of the Executive Committee of the Observatory, Miguel Franjul, and was attended by its members, including Alliet Ortega Rabassa, Vice-Rector of Administration and Finance of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), representing the rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez.

Decisions from the first meeting

During the meeting, the actions to be implemented were unanimously approved, including the creation of spaces for participation by different sectors of national life; the organization of forums and working groups; as well as the monitoring, supervision, and field visits to sensitive areas, among others.

The members of the Organization decided that Franjul, the Observatory's spokesperson, would be the president of the Executive Committee. They also agreed to hold monthly meetings and publish a bimonthly report on the progress of the work.
