INTEC participates in the 2025 National Evacuation Drill

The Risk Management, Sustainability and Accessibility Unit (UGRSA) team stood out for their handling of the drill with exemplary response times.

SANTO DOMINGO. The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) joined the National Evacuation Drill 2025 summoned at the national level, carrying out the evacuation of its facilities at 10:00 in the morning with an evacuation time of 2 minutes and 37 seconds, and a general operating time of 8 minutes.

The event was attended by 174 people, a milestone that demonstrates the university community's commitment to a culture of prevention and inter-institutional coordination. Furthermore, the team from Risk Management, Sustainability and Accessibility Unit (UGRSA) had the participation of student brigade members from INTEC-ECOLOGICAL, committed to the protection of the environment and natural resources through the socio-environmental awareness and sensitivity of the Intec community.

During the drill, the procedures established in the campus Emergency Plan were activated, including route marking, brigade escort, and control of assembly points. Measuring the times and counting participants will allow for adjusting protocols, reinforcing discipline at assembly points, and improving final verification times.

“These results confirm that preparedness saves lives. Maintaining practice, discipline, and coordination is key to responding safely and in an orderly manner,” said Pamela Michel, head of Disaster Risk Management at UGRSA.

INTEC reaffirms its commitment to strengthening institutional resilience by raising safety standards, training its staff and students, and continuously improving its response plans for earthquakes and other emergencies.
