INTEC grants exaltation in memoriam to Dr. Andrés Peralta Corniell


SANTO DOMINGO.- During an emotional ceremony, the Bioethics Center of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) extolled the rank of "Father of Dominican Bioethics in memoriam" to radiologist Andrés Peralta Corniell, who died recently.

During the activity, which was also organized by the National Bioethics Commission and the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee, Dr. Victoria Sánchez, widow Peralta, spoke the words of gratitude on behalf of the family and defined Peralta Corniell as an "extraordinary" person.

The certificate was delivered by the director of the Master's in Bioethics, Miguel Suazo; Togarma Rodríguez, former president of the National Bioethics Commission and the International Bioethics Committee of UNESCO and Raymundo Jiménez, dean of the Health Area.

Altagracia López, director of the Center for Innovation in Higher Education (CINNES) and Nikauly Vargas, representative in the country of the United Nations Fund for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), participated. The activity was carried out in the Julio Ravelo Room of the Library Fountain Emilio Rodríguez Demorizi of INTEC.

At the ceremony, the work and study colleagues of the deceased radiologist, as well as their alumni, relatives and close friends shared anecdotes of their experiences and experiences with the doctor.
Dr. Peralta Corniell passed the 20 last April, after suffering health breakdowns. He stood out in the promotion of bioethics in the country since the beginning of the 80 years and obtained the master's degree in that discipline from INTEC, when he was already recognized internationally for his practice, vast knowledge and dedication to the area.

He was also a founding member and former president of the National Bioethics Commission and the International Bioethics Committee of UNESCO, vice president of the Latin American Forum of Ethics Committees in Health Research (FLACEIS) and member of the executive committee of the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Bioethics or Bioethics Network.
