INTEC ranks first in the Dominican Republic in the QS World University Rankings.


The university maintains its position among the best universities in the country and stands out in indicators such as employability, faculty-student ratio, international faculty, and sustainability.

SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) reaffirmed its commitment to the academic excellence by obtaining the again First in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2026, positioning itself among the best universities in the world in the band 1201-1400. 

El ranking, prepared by the british firm Quaquarelli Symonds (QS), evaluated more than 8,400 institutions en 106 countries, of which only 1,501 achieved a position in the measurement. INTEC is one of only two universities in the Dominican Republic that appear in the global benchmarking of institutional performance. 

“The recognition of the QS World University "Rankings are a reflection of INTEC's sustained work to maintain high academic standards, research, and social commitment, aligned with international best practices," said Alliet Ortega, the university's acting rector. 

Amongst the indicators  in which INTEC showed a outstanding performance highlights the number of citations in scientific publications, in which the university researchers achieved the largest national quantity, more than 3,000 during the period evaluated. According to the teacher-student relationship the result it was of 8.5, this metric demonstrates the institutional commitment to personalized and quality teaching. Regarding the presence of international professors at the university, the result obtained it was of 12.3.   

Additionally, The university stands out in its indicatedres on the employability of graduates. According to the 2023 Graduate Employability Survey, conducted in 2024 by the Planning Department and with the support of the university's Graduate Relations Unit, 99 out of every 100 INTEC graduates are employed and, of that number, 73.04% were already employed at the time of completing their university degree. 

Regarding the diversity of international students, INTEC has students coming from 27 nationalities, thus proving to be a university with an enriching multicultural environment. 

In addition, the institution obtained a outstanding score in the new indicator of Sustainability, which assesses the environmental and social impact of universities globally. In this regard, INTEC stands out in its research for the development of plastics from biomaterials., identification of sustainable ways to take advantage of Sargassum floods in the Caribbean, as well as the creation of theUNESCO Chair on Climate Change, Resilience and Complex Systems.
