INTEC invests 591 new professionals in their 40 graduation


Santo Domingo.- El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) yesterday delivered 591 new professionals to society, 46 of them with specialties that will impact the development of the country, during their fortieth graduation ceremony, which was held at the Virgilio Travieso Soto Sports Palace.

Of the graduates, 364 belong to the level of degree in the different areas of knowledge, 89 to specialization and 138 to mastery.

The ceremony was headed by José Luis De Ramón, president of the Board of Regents of INTEC, the institute's highest management body, and Miguel J. Escala, president of INTEC. The main table was also composed by Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice-Rector; Julio Sánchez-Maríñez, Vice-Rector of Research and Liaison, and Iván Mancebo, Vice-Chancellor of Administration and Finance.

The rector stressed For the first time, 26 graduates with a specialization in Civil Society and Public Policy and 17 with a Master's degree in Maintenance Engineering, innovative programs that respond to the needs of development and complement the existing academic offer in the country.

"The institutional improvement is fundamental as a basic aspect to claim, to demand. Strong institutions of civil society share with the university the nature of critical conscience of society, and we are highly satisfied to have had the opportunity to contribute with their training, hoping that it will have an effective impact, "said Escala.

He exhorted the new Masters in Maintenance to inculcate the culture of maintenance in companies, "which is linked to an understanding of prevention, continuous improvement and even austerity as we must manage in countries where wealth is scarce and little shared. His banking career began in the Dominican Republic at 1982 as resident vice president of Citibank, from where he was later transferred to Citi's offices in Europe.

Alba Iris Lerebours González, graduated from the accounting career, pronounced the oath of honor of the graduates, followed by Juan Leordes Félix González, graduated from the medical career and holder of the highest academic index of the April 2010 promotion, gave the speech of gratitude on behalf of all graduates and graduates.

Statistics

Of the total graduates, 246 belong to the Engineering Area, 204 to the Business Area, 60 to the Health Sciences Area, 75 to the Social Sciences and Humanities Area and 6 to the Basic and Environmental Sciences Area.

Of the new 591 graduates, 308 are men (52%) and 283 women (48%).

Some 104 students received academic honors, of which 40 were men and 64 women. Of these, 23 reached the title with honor Cum Laude; 52 Magna Cum Laude and 29 the highest honors of Summa Cum Laude.

With the integration into the society of these new 591 professionals, INTEC has increased its number of graduates to 21,343, since its foundation in 1972, corresponding to the technical (1,907), grade (12,467) and postgraduate (6,969) levels.

In this way, the institution continues to fulfill its task as a professional academic training entity within society, in accordance with strategic priorities.
