INTEC trains pre-university teachers in the creation of gamification resources with artificial intelligence
The Recruitment Unit and the INTEC STEM program participated in the UNECC's 2026 Education Week
SANTO DOMINGO – The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), with the participation of the Recruitment Unit and INTEC STEM, offered the workshop "Integrating Technology and the STEM Approach for Quality Education: Digital Resources and Platforms." The event took place during the 2026 Education Week of the National Union of Catholic Schools and Colleges (UNECC), held at Don Bosco School.
The workshop was led by Anileydis Colón, coordinator of the INTEC STEM project. She instructed teachers on the use of artificial intelligence to design innovative educational experiences and gamification resources using various platforms. The teachers then worked in groups to develop interactive, themed games as solutions to problems in their educational contexts.
Among the video games created by the participants are: a maze for solving equations and a fishing challenge for identifying geometric shapes. The science team developed the games Guardians of the Center and Planet War to teach their students how to sort trash in the garbage cans.
In the language area, one group designed an agility challenge to identify the flags of French-speaking countries. In geography, educators created a video game for locating objects in space using the Cartesian plane.
The participating teachers expressed great interest and motivation with what they learned because the video games they learned to create can be run and played on computers without an internet connection.
Through this action, INTEC STEM provides up-to-date tools to the country's pre-university teachers to promote the development of skills in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
