INTEC begins the selection process for a Rector for the 2025-2028 period.
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) announced the start of the process for identifying and selecting candidates to serve as the university's Rector for the 2025-2028 term, in accordance with its General Statutes and the Regulations for the Selection and Appointment of the Rector and Vice-Rectors.
In compliance with Article 9 of the Regulations, the Board of Regents appointed an Advisory Committee to organize the process. This committee is composed of three members of the Board of Regents: Rosalina Perdomo, president; Elianna Peña and Luis Bencosme; Luis Enrique Rodríguez, dean of the Department of Basic and Environmental Sciences, representing the Academic Council; and Nylenis Nina, full-time professor in the Department of Engineering, appointed by the Academic Council.
The Advisory Committee will receive applications and accept proposals from self-nominated individuals or those submitted by any member of the INTEC community, from July 1 to August 1, 2025.

The selection process was called on an extraordinary basis, in accordance with the Institutional Statutes, following the unfortunate passing of Rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez, who was completing his second term at the helm of INTEC, which was scheduled to conclude in 2027.
Functions of the rector
The selected individual will lead the institution's academic and administrative functions at the highest level, serving as the highest executive authority. Lead the strategic planning and fulfillment of INTEC's mission objectives, sustainability, expansion, and transparency.
It will also be necessary to ensure the quality of academic practice in teaching, research, and outreach. Influence the profile and recognition of graduates, the university's social participation, and the deployment of its values. Promote ongoing innovation and development within the institution, and strengthen its position locally and internationally.
The Rector's Office reports to the Board of Regents, and its head leads the Academic Council and the university's strategic management team. He or she has the necessary autonomy to make decisions and commit the institution to any activity, as well as to manage, administer, and control internal resources.
The elected rector will be responsible for the institution's results, for compliance with the strategic plan approved for each period, for institutional growth, for curricular and technological updates, for compliance with policies and regulations, and for ethical, transparent, and inclusive institutional performance.
