INTEC enters the National Council of Science and Environment
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) was recognized as member of the National Council of Science and Environment (NCSE), which makes it the First University of Central America and the Caribbean, in being accepted in the body, outside US territory.
Subsequently, the Vice Rector for Research and Linking of INTEC, Víctor Gómez-Valenzuela, participated as an exhibitor at the NCSE Annual Conference 2020, held from January 7 to 9 in Washington DC, United States.
La academic conference involved more than 800 leaders of science, education, government, politics, business and civil society, and gave participants the opportunity to foster a dialogue, between these sectors, on the environmental policy and decision making with the use of sciencea.
The program included presentations by leading experts and sessions that highlight research, innovation and the power of collaboration through the partnership.
During the conference, Gómez-Valenzuela presented the research “Contingent valuation of Loma Miranda: analysis of social preferences”, whose objective was to explore social preference, in terms of the willingness of Dominican society to pay for the conservation of Loma Miranda, place where the Quisqueya mining concession is located between the provinces of Monseñor Nouel and La Vega.
