INTEC inaugurates mural of the Fray Ramón Pané School

The creation authorship of the artist Marcelo Ferder involved the children of the "Education to think" program

Santo Domingo. With a traditional ribbon cutting authorities Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the Fray Ramón Pané Primary School, inaugurated this Tuesday, November 20, the new school mural called “Believe, create, grow”.

The creation, authored by the Argentine artist Marcelo Ferder, embodies the essence of the young students, men and women, who, as the name suggests, create, create and grow, as seeds that, when well taken care of, transform into leafy trees, whose fruits are visible to all.

"The cloths on the wall act as if they were the frames of the film. The geometric planes of primary colors, are moving upwards or to the sides creating gradation structures. This kinetic concept reinforces the idea of personal growth that is the central concept of the mural "explained Ferder.

The technique applied to the mural consists of cement and solid waste, mainly plastic and technological waste; while the colors, applied on fresh cement, complete a technique widely used in Europe during the Renaissance, and which is known as "El Fresco".

The project, with the collaboration of children from the Education to Think Program, from the 2009 coordinated by INTEC, the Ministry of Education and the Teacher's College of Columbia University in New York. They were also joined by volunteer students from INTEC's Industrial Design career.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Rolando M. Guzmán, Rector of INTEC and Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice-Rector. Also by Hilario Urbano, Director of the Fray Ramón Pané School and Sarah Espaillat, Coordinator of the “Education to Think” Program.

The tape cut was made by the children Ashley Santana, Dewin Aracena, Hansel Bonilla and Maria del Carmen Jiménez, students of the school.
