Intec inaugurates 2010 technology, the sixth edition of its technology fair
Santo Domingo, DN- El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) opened on Wednesday the sixth edition of its technology fair, Intecnología 2010. The event will run until Friday 19 and it combines the best of the projects, ideas, prototypes and inventions produced in the classroom with the news of the business and industrial world.
"Intecnología is the fair that we are developing since the year 2005 putting emphasis on the element of technological construction, innovation and technology transfer to have an impact on national development," said the rector of INTEC, Miguel Escala, during the act of opening of the fair.
The rector also highlighted this event as a great opportunity for students and teachers to present to the community the results of their projects, with the possibility that some of them may become patents, be marketed and become the next "innovative product of the Dominican Republic ”.
Speaking to those present, the French ambassador, Roland Dubertrand, whose country is the guest of honor of 2010, highlighted the strength of the ties between France and the Dominican Republic through various scholarship exchange programs.
"It is a source of pride for the French government to offer quality scholarships to Dominican students," said the diplomat.
In Intecnology, innovative and innovative projects such as the advances in the first Formula SAE car built in the country are exhibited, developed by students of races as diverse as INTEC such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electronics, mechatronics and medicine. Although only the chassis is exhibited at the fair, it is being built to compete within two years in the race organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), in Michigan, United States.
Likewise, the hydraulic ram protrudes, a device capable of pumping water without electricity up to the height of a third floor; or the robot competition built by the mechatronics students, which will take place on Thursday and Friday from the 6: 00 in the afternoon.
In total, around fifty projects and prototypes are presented at stands and demonstration events, including the Electronic Showcase, one of the most anticipated technological gateways within the field of Intecnology. Likewise, 25 of these projects, of equal number of teams, will compete in the First Project Competition.
Intecnología 2010 will also host 17 lectures and conferences in areas as varied as telecommunications, videogames, civil engineering and medicine. On this occasion, unlike previous years and given the overflow in the participation of projects and companies, the entire campus will be Intecnología.
The fair, open to the public of 9: 00 am to 10: 00 pm, also attracts the best of the business world, which through stands and conferences brings updates on current issues in the world of technology applied to business.
But not everything will be technology and academia. As part of the fair there will be three concerts closing each of the days of the fair, and recreational competitions, such as a Frisbee competition, Twister, dominoes and Guitar Hero competitions and other video games.
The first night will be in charge of the group Quintana Roo while the grand concert of closure of 2010, on Friday 19, will be in the hands of the local band Podapop.
