INTEC promotes a series of seminars on energy transition within the framework of the ETRELA and OLADE projects.

The university develops webinars on topics of digitalization, forecasting, efficiency and biomass applied to the energy sector, specifically in the electricity subsector, in the training cycles of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) as part of the ETRELA project.

SANTO DOMINGO. - El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), in its role as academic partner of the ETRELA project (Improving, Increasing and Facilitating Access to Renewable Energy Education and Training in Latin America), strengthens its commitment to capacity building in clean energy by holding five specialized seminars that will take place between 2025 and 2026, in collaboration with the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE).

These seminars are part of the joint strategy between OLADE and ETRELA to design specialized curricula, implement practical training centers, and develop online training programs that strengthen technical preparation in the region.

The seminars will be led by INTEC teachers from Engineering Area, entre ellos Miguel Aybar, research professor, with the theme "Digitalization of electrical systems"; Deyslen Mariano, research professor, with the theme "Forecasts and artificial intelligence tools in electrical systems"; Giuseppe Sbriz, with the theme "Energy efficiency and regulations"; and the researchers Iosvanny López y Hugo Bello, with the theme "Biomass and energy conversion trends".

The series began with a webinar led by Aybar, and brought together more than 200 participants from across the region. The event featured special participation from Gloria Alvarenga, Director of Energy Integration, Access and Security at OLADE, Y de Arturo de Villar, academic vice-rector of INTEC.

During his welcoming remarks, Alvarenga emphasized that “digitalization is one of the most important strategic pillars for the energy future of Latin America and the Caribbean. Digital tools and intelligent information management are essential for achieving more efficient, resilient, and sustainable energy systems,” he explained.

In his speech, Del Villar He emphasized the importance of academia in this process. “Digitization is not just a trend; it's a strategic necessity. The integration of digital technologies allows for the optimization of processes, strengthening energy security, and opening up new sustainable business opportunities. At INTEC, we are committed to training, innovation, and regional cooperation as pillars for addressing the challenges of the energy transition,” he said.

The dates of the other webinars that INTEC will be developing with OLADE will be published on the website. https://www.olade.org/.
