INTEC graduates the first promotion of International Trade Management


Santo Domingo.- Within the framework of its 40 anniversary, the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) invited 604 new professionals during its forty-fifth graduation ceremony, held this Saturday October 6 at the Sansouci Terminal. 

Among the graduates stands out the first promotion of the Masters in International Trade Management, with double degree from the National University (UNA) of Costa Rica, a new group of professionals inserted in sectors such as customs, tourism and shipping that will provide a managerial vision and concrete instruments to boost trade at the public and private levels.

At a time when international trade represents a critical aspect for the strengthening of the economy, this master's degree contributes to strengthen international commerce analysis and management capabilities in order to exploit the commercial potential of the Dominican productive apparatus and achieve productive capacities become commercial results, in any entity that seeks to turn to the international market.

With the integration into society of these new 604 professionals, INTEC has increased its number of graduates to 24,265 professionals since its founding in 1972, corresponding to the following levels: Técnicos, 1,908; Degree, 14,176 and Postgraduate, 8,181.
Of the graduates, 338 correspond to grade level, 131 to specialty and 135 to masters, among which stand out postgraduate groups in gender and development, planning and tax management, clinical nutrition, teaching of mathematics, physics, linguistics and social sciences , as well as structural engineering and construction management, with which the university provides better trained professionals that will impact the development, education, health and construction sectors.

In his words, the rector Rolando Guzman exhorted the graduates and graduates to contribute to the construction of a better country and, as graduates of INTEC, to be preachers of a society that will eventually exist. He also said that the institution aims to continue counting with its graduates during the next forty years and beyond.

Sandra León Coto, Rector of the National University of Costa Rica (UNA), was in charge of the keynote address.

León Coto is the third woman to reach this position in the history of the Central American institution. She is a professor and professor at the School of Chemistry and the Humanistic School, since its foundation. She served as the Academic Vice Chancellor of the 2005 to the 2010, before being rector.

She has been a researcher at UNA since 25 years ago. His work is mainly emphasized by integrating research and university extension for the coastal communities of the Gulf of Nicoya. His work has projected to the National University through interdisciplinary projects that have had the approval of highly prestigious international cooperation offices.

He has an extensive academic production in scientific journals with national and international editorial stamp, which has earned recognition for his contribution in the scientific and technological field in favor of the development of the country by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1992, and has been conferred the honor to the merit of the College of Chemists for their research work.

The ceremony was headed by Ana María Ramos, president of the Board of Regents of INTEC, the institution's highest governing body. Together with them and the speaker, Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice Chancellor and Alfonso Casasnovas, Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance were also on the board.

Carmen Patricia Veras Deschamps graduated from the Medicine career and a scholarship recipient of the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES), pronounced the honor oath of the graduates, followed by Mónika Nohely Acosta Pérez, of Business Administration, who gave the speech of thanks on behalf of all graduates and graduates.

Statistics
Of the new 604 graduates, 270 are men and 334 women. Of the total, 184 belongs to the Engineering Area, 223 to the Business Area, 130 to the Health Sciences Area, 65 to the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities and 2 to the Area of ​​Basic and Environmental Sciences.

Some 69 students earned academic honors. Of these, 18 reached the title with honor Cum Laude; 37 Magna Cum Laude and 14 the highest honors of Summa Cum Laude.

Three new graduates of the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES) obtained the highest index of their respective careers. In total, 15 Fellows received their professional degrees, 10 of them with academic honors: 4 Summa Cum Laude and 6 Magna Cum Laude.

In this way the institution continues the fulfillment of its work as an entity of academic training of excellence with social commitment, in accordance with the strategic priorities.
