INTEC graduates the first class of actuaries


Santo Domingo.- El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) awarded titles to 517 new professionals, including the first six actuaries graduated from the Mathematics career, during the forty-sixth graduation ceremony of the institution, held this Saturday 20 April, at the Sansouci Terminal.

The actuaries are mathematicians who give value to the risk for decision making, so they have a great demand from the employer sector of insurance, pensions and banking in general. They are professionals trained in mathematics who calculate and validate loan rates, insurance policies both personal and damage, pension, etc. It is the professional who performs the actuarial audit and administration in the agencies and institutions related to insurance, pensions, banking and in controlling and regulatory entities of these sectors.

INTEC is the only university in the country that offers this career, whose program is formed with a broad spectrum of mathematics applied to business (accounting, finance, economics and statistics), so that graduates have a variety of job options, both in the private sector as in the public sector.
Likewise, in this investiture, the first five graduates of the Master's Degree in Banking and Stock Market, a growing sector within the country, stood out.
Of the new 517 professionals, 330 corresponds to the Degree level, 47 to the Specialty and 140 to the Master level.

In addition to the areas of engineering, health sciences, business and humanities, in terms of postgraduate studies, the university adapts its academic offer to the needs of both the labor market and the country. In this act graduated magister in Environmental Sciences and Management of Quality and Productivity, work areas that require more and more professionals. In terms of specialties, among the 47 graduates stand out those of Specialty in Mathematics, in Chemical Bioethics, in Education of Young People and Adults and in Management of Health and Social Security Services. 

Rector Rolando Guzmán addressed the graduates to highlight the role of universities as scientific and ethical support of private initiatives and public policies in the country. He indicated that the INTEC is not only a university of excellence in the training of competitive professionals, but also in the formation of integral citizens.


The central speech of the act was in charge of Dr. Guarocuya Félix, General Director of Internal Taxes and Outstanding Graduate of INTEC, year 2012. 
In addition to the rector, the ceremony was headed by Ana María Ramos, president of the Board of Regents of INTEC, the institution's highest governing body. Together with Guzmán and Félix, the board of directors was Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice-Rector and Alfonso Casasnovas, Vice-Chancellor of Administration and Finance.

Gabriela Deneb Rodríguez Grullón, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Psychology career, pronounced the oath of honor, followed by Miyuki Kasahara Fernández, Summa Cum Laude from the Marketing career who was in charge of the speech of gratitude on behalf of all the graduates and graduates.

INTEC plans its future, taking as a frame of reference national and international accreditation standards. Currently, it has an enrollment of 4,816 students and has issued 24,782 titles since its foundation, corresponding to the levels: Technical, 1,908; Degree, 14,506 and Postgraduate, 8,368.

Statistics 
Of the total of graduates, 105 belong to the Engineering Area, 177 to the Business Area, 66 to the Health Sciences Area, 59 to the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities and 10 to the Area of ​​Basic and Environmental Sciences.

Of the new graduates, 235 are men and 282 women. Some 75 students earned academic honors. Of these, 35 reached the title with honor Cum Laude; 28 Magna Cum Laude and 12 the highest honors of Summa Cum Laude.

With the integration into the society of these new 517 professionals, INTEC has increased its number of graduates to 24,128 professionals since its foundation at 1972. In this way, the institution continues the fulfillment of its work as a professional academic training entity within society, in accordance with strategic priorities.
