INTEC graduates 840 new professionals


SANTO DOMINGO.- The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) awarded professional titles to 840 new professionals in different areas of knowledge during its fifty-first (51) ordinary graduation ceremony, which was headed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ligia Amada Melo.

Of the graduates, the majority (53.1%) belong to the Graduate level, while the 46.9% belong to the Degree. In this way, 394 graduates correspond to Degree level, 310 to Specialty and 136 to Master.

During the ceremony, held at the Palace of Sports Virgilio Travieso Soto, the specialist in Geotechnics and Doctor in Civil Engineering Manuel Gómez Achécar, President of the consulting company in Engineering EPSA-LABCO, called on the new professionals to develop a leadership based in values, for which he listed integrity, generosity, genuine humility and enthusiasm as the main qualities that they should cultivate.

"Successes do not happen overnight. A dose of vision is necessary to pursue dreams. And these are possible to have based on constancy and perseverance, "said Gómez Achécar, who delivered the order speech. 

The rector of INTEC, Dr. Rolando M. Guzmán, gave a few words of exhortation in which he highlighted some of the most recent academic achievements achieved by the university. He cited that in the Engineering area this year the accreditation of three additional programs with a regional accrediting agency was achieved and that the accreditation of all our programs with the most prestigious accrediting agency worldwide, ABET, began. In Business, he reported that the university is in the last stage of an accreditation process for all the programs in that area, with an accrediting agency from the United States, as well as in the area of ​​Health Sciences.

Similarly, he explained that the area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities has been developing a set of educational innovation projects and that the area of ​​Basic and Environmental Sciences recently submitted to approval two doctoral programs, which once put in place will turn us into the The first Dominican university offering its own doctoral programs in the field of science and technology, "we are therefore at a special moment in our process of institutional growth, and we need you, graduates and graduates, to continue to feel like essential actors of that process" , said Guzmán.

Indhira Ramírez Sánchez, from the Economics and Scholarship Program of the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES), offered the speech of appreciation on behalf of the graduates. Darlene Ramírez Peña was in charge of the oath of Industrial Engineering, also a PIES trainee.

Among the graduates, the largest group were the 157 graduates of the Specialty in Clinical Nutriology, a health area that is gaining increasing importance in the preventive management of health.

Statistics

Of the new 840 graduates, 514 are women (61.2%) and 326 are men (38.8%). When observing the division of graduates by areas, 283 belong to the Engineering Area; 151 to the Business Area; 228 to the Area of ​​Health Sciences; 172 to the Area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities and 6 to the Area of ​​Basic and Environmental Sciences.

Within the total of graduates, 70 obtained academic honors. Of these, 31 reached the title with honor Cum Laude; 26 Magna Cum Laude and 13 the highest honors of Summa Cum Laude.

Similarly, within the promotion 30 graduates belong to the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES), 15 of which obtained academic honors: six (6) Summa Cum Laude, five (5) Magna Cum Laude and four (4) Cum Laude Also five (5) new graduates of the PIES group obtained the highest index of their respective careers.
