INTEC signs an agreement with a European accrediting agency for the redesign and certification of its quality assurance system
SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, SPAIN. The rector of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Julio Sánchez Maríñez, signed an agreement with the Agency for the Quality of the Galician University System (ACSUG), to have the advice of this accreditation in the development of the quality assurance system of the university.
The signing of the agreement, held at the ACSUG headquarters in this city, was led by the executive director of that agency, Eduardo López Pereira, and the president of its Governing Council, María Patrocinio Morrondo Pelayo, a professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
The preliminary works for the design of the INTEC quality assurance system had begun prior to the formal act of signing the agreement, with which from this signing they will gain greater momentum to be deployed throughout the year 2023, with a view to starting the implementation of the system in 2024. Once this process is finished, INTEC would start the ACSUG certification.
"With this, INTEC would be the first Dominican university to obtain a quality certification by a European accrediting agency, valid for the entire European Higher Education area," said Sánchez Maríñez. The redesign and certification of the INTEC quality assurance system is part of the strategic vision of the university as part of its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement of all its processes.
INTEC works on its 2023-2027 strategic planning, which contemplates the implementation of the internationally accredited quality management and assurance system as one of its goals, under the leadership of the Quality Department, and as part of the strategic purpose of making of the university a demanding and welcoming institution.
La Agency for the Quality of the Galician University System (ACSUG) was founded in 2001 with the aim of ensuring the quality assurance of the Galician university system and influencing its continuous improvement.
The European accreditation has been recognized by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), a body of which the quality agencies of higher education in Europe are a part. Likewise, it is part of the European Register of Quality Agencies (EQAR), after this body verified that ACSUG carries out its activities in compliance with the Criteria and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). And, finally, it is also a member of the European Higher Education Accreditation Consortium (ACE), a body whose purpose is to establish mutual recognition of the accreditations carried out by the quality agencies that are members of the organization.
