INTEC explores exchanges for its teachers with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia


SANTO DOMINGO. The rector of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Julio Sanchez Marinez, held a meeting with his counterpart from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (CPU), Daniel Crespo Artiaga, in which they discussed the establishment of cooperative relations for professorial exchange.

During the meeting, which was held at the UPC headquarters in Barcelona, ​​Spain, the academics considered the possibility of implementing professorial exchanges, so that INTEC professors can carry out doctoral studies at the UPC.

In turn, INTEC requested the advice of the UPC for the initiation and development of industrial doctorates according to the European regime for these programs, particularly in the modality experienced in the Catalan community. They also dealt with the establishment of links between centers and research groups from both universities, such as those focused on the plastics industry, and mobility and transport.

The dean of INTEC Engineering, Cayetano Rodríguez, and the professor of that academic area, Jorge Miranda, accompanied by professor Jesús Miguel Bairán, a graduate of INTEC, who is Coordinator of the Technology Section of Structures, Materials, and Construction of the School of Civil Engineering, of the UPC.

 While, for the UPC, the Vice-Rector for International Policy, Lourdes Reig, and the Director of the International Relations Office, Helena Martínez, attended.

The INTEC commissioners visited the Catalan Center for Plastics CCP and spoke with its director and coordinator of the e-PLASCOM Research Group - Eco-friendly Plastics and Composites, María Lluisa Maspoch Ruldua, about the relationship between the Catalan Center for Plastics and the Center of Training and Investigation of the Plastic of the INTEC.

Likewise, they met with the dean of the School of Civil Engineering, Esther Rea, with the aim of discussing viable alternatives for carrying out doctoral studies for INTEC professors at the UPC, as well as relations between the Urban Mobility Group and Transportes de the UPC and the INTEC Mobility and Transportation Teaching Group, among other possible relationships. Xavier Sánchez, director of the Department of Civil Engineering, Joan Baiges, the deputy director of Promotion of Studies and International Relations and Francesc Soriguera also participated in this meeting. , Deputy Director of Masters and Research Coordinator of the Urban Mobility and Transport Group.

The visit to UPC was part of an agenda of strategic visits made by the rector of INTEC, with a view to strengthening ties with European institutions based on the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan. As part of the series of meetings, he also met with authorities from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and participated in the Annual Assembly of the Ibero-American Postgraduate University Association (AUIP).

The UPC is positioned among the top 700 universities in the world in the Shanghai ranking (Academic Ranking of World Universities -ARWU)-, and between 51 and 150 in the QS World University Rankings.
