INTEC equips laboratory with Windows Phones 7 of Microsoft


Santo Domingo. The Microsoft Dominican company and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), signed an agreement to establish the Windows Phone 7 Laboratory, which will allow students of careers such as Software Engineering, Systems Engineering and other related, to develop applications in mobile environments with this platform.

The laboratory, which will make available five computers provided by Microsoft, will have capacity for 15 people who can use Microsoft consoles and tools to develop mobile applications in the cloud, for academic purposes. Microsoft Education, aims to promote education and academic and research activities for this platform.

The agreement, signed by Rolando M. Guzmán, Rector of INTEC, and Juan Lozada, Regional Director of

INTEC is the only university that offers a Software Engineering degree since August of 2010.

Windows Phone is a compact mobile operating system developed by the Microsoft company and designed for use on SmartPhones and other mobile devices. It has a natural interface with the user, and is characterized by its operability and usability, in addition to the range of applications it has in its vicinity.

As an environment, Windows Phone plans to increase its presence in the mobile telephony market in the coming years, and with it the demand for applications for that environment will grow, to compete with the different existing platforms in the smart phone markets.

The event was attended by Microsoft, Evelin Guerra, of Evangelization of new technologies and, on behalf of the INTEC university, the Executive Director of Information Technology, Erick Barinas and the Inter-Institutional Relations Executive Director, Angelica Adrian.
