INTEC delivers 597 new professionals to the Dominican society in its 43 graduation


Santo Domingo.- El Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) invited 597 to new professionals during its forty-third graduation ceremony, held at Sansouci Terminal.

Of the graduates, 368 belong to the level of degree, 133 to specialties and other 95 to master's degrees, among which stand out graduate groups in management of social security services, clinical nutriology, environmental sciences and teaching of mathematics, physics, linguistics, social sciences and management of educational centers, with which the university provides better trained professionals that will impact the health, environment and education sectors with this new group of graduates.

The rector Rolando Guzmán, in his first investiture ceremony after his swearing in last September, invited the new professionals to build a path of success and to be examples of excellence in the face of each new challenge. "Propose to fulfill the promise not to be satisfied with being good, but to strive to be excellent " and especially congratulated the 27 new professionals who studied their scholarships for the INTEC Program with Outstanding Students (PIES).

Guzmán also emphasized in encouraging the graduates to continue their relationship with the university and concluded by saying: "Remember it well: being an example, participating and contributing are the key to helping INTEC continue to be the university of excellence, and to become more and more a true model for the Dominican higher education system."

The central speech of the event was in charge of Mr. Manuel Cabrera, Executive Vice President of Chemprod Laboratories and Former President of the Association of Industrial Companies of Herrera (AEIH), who addressed the issues of commitment, improvement and exploitation of opportunities from his own experience of lifetime.

"We all have to commit ourselves to fight for a society where honesty, solidarity, justice and mainly respect for the Law prevail, which is one of our greatest weaknesses and, in our opinion, the main cause of the disorder in which we are living " express.

Cabrera went on to say that in his opinion, Dominican society must begin its claim by the authorities elected to enforce them accordingly, and by the institutions supported with the resources of taxes paid by taxpayers and that have permeated the entire society.

In addition to the rector, the ceremony was headed by Ana María Ramos, president of the Board of Regents of INTEC, the institution's highest governing body. Together with them and the speaker, Leandra Tapia, Academic Vice Chancellor, Alfonso Casasnovas, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, and on behalf of Josefina Pimentel, Minister of Education, were Esperanza Ayala, Director General of the Middle Level.  

Paola Melisa Díaz Gómez, graduated from the Industrial Engineering career, pronounced the oath of honor of the graduates, followed by Faribel Frías Mejía, a PIES graduate from the Economy who gave the speech of thanks on behalf of all graduates.

Of the total graduates, 234 belong to the Engineering Area, 203 to the Business Area, 70 to the Health Sciences Area, 58 to the Social Sciences and Humanities Area and 32 to the Basic and Environmental Sciences Area.

Of the new 597 graduates, 289 are men and 308 women.

Some 101 students earned academic honors. Of these, 34 reached the title with honor Cum Laude; 37 Magna Cum Laude and 30 the highest honors of Summa Cum Laude.

With the integration into the society of these new 597 professionals, INTEC has increased its number of graduates to 23,193 professionals since its foundation at 1972. In this way, the institution continues the fulfillment of its work as a professional academic training entity within society, in accordance with strategic priorities.

Review of Manuel Cabrera

Graduated in Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), he has a Masters in Business Administration with a specialty in Marketing, at Saint`John University in New York, United States.

He began his working life in the sales area and developed his professional career in the company Merck Sharp & Dohme International, one of the main pharmaceutical companies in the world, where he held the positions of Market Research Manager in Argentina, Market Planning in Venezuela , Country Manager in the Dominican Republic, Director of Sales and Marketing for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and President (General Manager) in Venezuela.

From 1995 he works at Laboratorios Chemprod, C. por A., ​​performing as General Manager and currently as Executive Vice President. He is also the owner and president of Empresas Maysel SRL and JD Guerrero SRL.

He was a member of the board of directors of the Association of Importers of Warehouses (ASODAI) from 2001 to 2004 and president of the same from 2004 to 2006. He served as a member of the Executive Board and coordinator of the Quality Committee of the Association of Industrial Companies of Herrera (AEIH), in the period 2006-2008.

In 2008 he assumes the presidency of the AEIH and Santo Domingo Province, Inc. In the 2010 he concluded with great satisfaction his passage through this institution, thanks to the coordinated work of an excellent team of men and women who have made it possible to turn ideas into results.

For more than 10 years he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Banco de Ahorro y Crédito Gruficorp.
