INTEC and INAFOCAM highlight the value of educational assessment as a tool to transform learning
For several years, both educational entities have been working together for the advanced training of education professionals.
SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), through the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities, celebrated the Closing Seminar of the Master's Degree in Educational Evaluation, entitled “Assessment in Action: Experiences that Impact Learning”, an academic space focused on the socialization of research and experiences that demonstrate the potential of educational evaluation as a driver of transformation in teaching and learning processes.
The day began with welcoming remarks from Dalul Ordehi, dean of the Social Sciences and Humanities Area of INTEC, and of Florangel Araujo, representing the National Institute for Teacher Training and Development (INAFOCAM). Both highlighted the importance of educational assessment as a fundamental tool for the continuous improvement of learning, the strengthening of teaching practice, and decision-making aimed at raising the quality of Dominican education.
During the seminar, research projects were presented, grouped into two main thematic areas. The first, Pedagogical Innovation, Curriculum and Assessment for LearningThe second focus, which addressed experiences related to the use of digital resources, virtual platforms, educational innovation, and strategies to strengthen learning, Educational Assessment, School Management and Inclusion for Institutional ImprovementIt allowed the sharing of studies related to educational inclusion, classroom management, and improvement of institutional processes.
As part of the day's events, an expert panel was held “Educational assessment as a driving force for the transformation of learning and institutions”The event, moderated by teacher Rebeca Rodríguez, featured specialists Irene Machado, Alejandra Pérez, Sarahí Álvarez, and Jael Alevante, who reflected on current challenges in educational assessment, inclusion and student well-being, teacher performance evaluation, and institutional leadership as key elements for improving educational quality.
The event concluded with words of gratitude on behalf of the master's students, highlighting the value of educational research as a tool for transformation and the participants' commitment to improving Dominican education. Following this, Katherine Mejía, the master's program's academic coordinator, delivered the closing remarks, urging the participants to translate the knowledge, experiences, and learning gained during the program into concrete actions that will have an impact in their classrooms, schools, and professional communities.
She also emphasized the importance of sharing what has been learned with colleagues and work teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, reflection, and continuous improvement that will multiply the benefits of the training received. She noted that the true value of the master's program will be evident to the extent that its graduates are able to transform their practices, lead change processes, and contribute to strengthening a more inclusive, innovative, and high-quality education.
