INTEC develops research on urban transport and sustainable mobility

SANTO DOMINGO. With the aim of identifying solutions that allow addressing the precariousness of the urban mobility system in the Dominican Republic, a team of researchers from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) develops nearly a dozen investigations on the subject.

The studies revolve around demand, technology and information systems in urban transportation and some of them receive internal financing from the university while others won the call from the National Fund for Innovation and Scientific and Technological Development (FONDOCYT).

Among the investigations, one could cite one aimed at the design of a traffic management system adaptable to the demand of vehicular flow in the main traffic light intersections and expressways of Santo Domingo. Likewise, another study is developed on the design and implementation of a route map of the public transportation system of greater Santo Domingo.

Likewise, INTEC researchers are working on the design of an application for users of the public transportation system in the Capital city, which offers real-time information on available routes that allows users to plan and know the waiting time. estimated at stops. Another of the ongoing studies is on the inertia effect and accessibility profiles of public transport, which is in the stage of presenting conclusions.

Added to these are other investigations that have additionally resulted in the presentation of various doctoral theses.

INTEC will be the headquarters and co-organizer of the Urban Mobility Forum convened by Listín Diario, which will take place on January 16, 2024.
