SANTO DOMINGO. -The international community met again and lived with fervor and joy the Merit Week in the Hive, in which the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) recognized its teachers and collaborators during a series of virtual events, for the work they do in the training of professionals of excellence.

The program of activities, which ran from August 24 to 28, included recognitions to Outstanding Collaborator and Outstanding Beehive, Teacher's Day and Recognition of Permanence.

The celebration began with the delivery of Recognition of Permanence, which praises the collaborators for their uninterrupted time of service in the institution. At the event, a total of 53 teachers and collaborators received recognition for their 10, 20, 30 and 40 years of uninterrupted work at INTEC. In addition, a posthumous recognition was awarded to professor José Agustín Ernesto Casanova Castillo, from the Basic and Environmental Sciences Area.

During Teacher's Day, 55 male and female teachers were recognized for their high Teacher Efficiency Index (IED) 2019-2020. The IED is a recognition carried out each year, in which teachers who during the past academic year have achieved the highest evaluations are highlighted, for which four indicators are taken into account: average teacher evaluation, student retention rate , teacher attendance rate and the percentage of classifications delivered on time.

On Friday, August 28, the “Outstanding Beehive” and “Outstanding Collaborator” events were held, in which the temporary and permanent teams with the greatest contribution during 2019 were recognized; At the same time, collaborators were highlighted for their excellence in the categories Service, Commitment and Proactivity.

During this event, Rolando Guzmán, rector of INTEC, said its recognition encompasses the entire international community because, rather than recognizing individuals or groups, recognizes the spirit of the university, which has allowed us to get here overcoming challenges and will allow us to move forward.

“We are aware that the test is not over yet, that we still have to go through moments of uncertainty and that at some point of the trip moments of certain discouragement await us, but we also know that we are invincible and we are encouraged by the certainty that at the end of the trip We will be stronger than we were when we started, that is the challenge, but also the hope ”.

On your side, Yolanda Salazar, Director of People Management, issued an emotional message of congratulations to the collaborators highlighting that in the INTEC community its mission and vision of life is science and art. "That is why I feel comfortable and happy because I know that with all the strength of positivism and resilience that you radiate in the performance of your different roles, the objectives will always be met even in circumstances as difficult as the current one."

Salazar said that "today we celebrate the service attitude, commitment and contributions shown by the members of this work community, a community that grows and is transformed into a path of increasing challenges, an inspiring community whose example we applaud."

During the Collaborator and Outstanding Beehive event, Norberto Rojas, Academic Coordinator of Postgraduate Engineering, made an emotional artistic presentation by singing a melody on a piano piece. In addition, other poetic interventions were also presented in the other activities.

Directors recognition

Every two years the university recognizes Featured Leader category, an award that is aimed at administrative and academic administration directors. The nominees must have an excellent performance in the evaluation by competence, a very good or superior result in the institutional, strategic and operational indicators of their unit, and a valuation above the average of the organizational climate indicators.

This time Alfonso Casasnovas, vice-rector for Administration and Finance, was in charge of announcing that the recognized director was Yolanda Salazar, who, in his opinion, is accompanied by tenacity and a commitment that increases day by day.

“When reading the description of this category, I am surprised to see that she is a leader who indeed has the same characteristics, because being calm and elegant, she exhibits responsibility, self-discipline, integrity in the fulfillment of institutional objectives and is very focused on optimizing the resources, ”Casasnovas pondered.
