INTEC dedicates the month to Chess
Santo Domingo. With the interest of strengthening the practice of chess discipline among students, for the benefits it brings to the development of thought, the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences of Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), presents throughout the month of May a calendar of extracurricular activities for those interested in this science game.
The actions contemplated in the calendar began last Friday 4 of May with the inauguration of the LV National Senior Male Chess Tournament, organized by the Dominican Chess Federation, and is held on the campus of the university on the occasion of the INTEC Cup, of the academic institution.
The fair is dedicated to the international master Yuan Eu Liao, National Chess Champion in the years 1983, 1984; and Sub-champion 1982 and 1986, and contemplates some 11 rounds of chess matches, the last being 27 Sunday.
For those interested in learning the discipline, the calendar includes classes of initiation, opening, tactics, strategies and finals in chess. It will also be offering the talk "How to insert in the world of chess: History and Organization of Chess in the Republic Dom." And will be held simultaneously among the participants and a "Lightning Tournament", scheduled for Saturday 19 from 2 to 4 pm.
Each activity will be responsible for experts in the discipline, and during the development of the tournament will be attended by the main exponents of this science game as International Masters Lisandro Muñoz, Nelson Pina and José M. Domínguez; like the FIDE Masters Miguel Infante (National Champion), Francis Fernández, William Putier and Adan Mazara.
All these chess encounters are open to people interested in the discipline and the general public.
