The academic community gathered at the customary institutional breakfast held to celebrate the university's history and contributions to the country.

SANTO DOMINGO. — The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) celebrated its 53rd anniversary with a heartfelt institutional breakfast on its campus, where authorities, faculty, students, alumni, and collaborators gathered to commemorate more than five decades of academic excellence, innovation, and commitment to national development.

The event, held in the Plazoleta De Los Fundadores on campus, was led by the president of the Board of Regents, Rosalina Perdomo, and the interim rector of INTEC, Alliet Ortega, who delivered messages of reflection on the university's legacy and challenges, while reaffirming their commitment to the founding values that gave rise to the institution: social commitment, academic excellence, innovation, pluralism, perseverance, solidarity, and courage.

During her speech, the interim rector detailed the progress made over the past year across INTEC's four strategic pillars. Regarding the Scientific and Technological Leadership pillar, she highlighted the ongoing curriculum reform, which incorporates STEM training, artificial intelligence, and active methodologies, as well as the development of international micro-credentials in partnership with Erasmus.

He also highlighted the achievements of students and faculty, such as the six awards won by the Apollo 27 team in the NASA 2025 Human Exploration Rover Challenge, and the international reaccreditation of the Medicine program by CAAM-HP, along with outstanding results in the United States Match and the 2025 MIR exam.

Regarding the role of Linkages for National Development, he highlighted INTEC's role as a strategic partner of the State and the private sector, with more than 63 active research projects. In addition, 29 PIES scholarships were awarded, totaling more than 3,800 young people benefited over three decades.

Regarding institutional management and student well-being, Ortega announced the implementation of the second phase of the Vision system (PeopleSoft) in its Campus phase, which will transform academic processes for active students and administrative staff, consolidating an agile, transparent, and results-based management model.

Regarding sustainability and social commitment, Ortega highlighted the progress of the Sustainable Campus project and the BEE PART campaign, aimed at mobilizing graduates and partners to promote impactful academic projects. He also celebrated INTEC's recognition by PROINDUSTRIA with the 2025 Academic Innovation Award for programs such as Design with Industry and Learning Factory.

The president of the Board of Regents reviewed INTEC's history, highlighting the institution's and its members' ability to be resilient and emerge stronger from adversity, citing the most recent death of Rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez last May. "Its resilience comes from the people who have lived here and from the energy generated by all of them, united by a common goal: academic excellence for the development of the country. We are confident that once again we will emerge stronger from this complex and unprecedented situation," he said.

In this sense, Rosalina Perdomo pointed out that the universityis in the process of selecting the person who will occupy the rectorship. "The Academic Council and the Board of Regents do not have an easy task, and this, to a certain extent, entails a complex internal situation, which, thanks to INTEC's institutional framework, has not affected the university's own work," he noted.

The celebration began with the raising of the National and Institutional Flags, led by Carmen Paulino (a collaborator with 38 years of service), Martín Abbott (an Engineering professor with 41 years of service), Dahiana García (the most recent collaborator), and Carla Guzmán Rodríguez (leader of the Psychology Student Committee).

The Institutional Choir, directed by Alba Pérez, performed the National and INTEC anthems, as well as a repertoire chosen for the occasion.

Students Jesús Jarvis and Lisbeth Poliné, from the Bachelor's Program in Social Communication and Digital Media, participated as presenters alongside INTEC's Director of Institutional Communication, Carmen Matos, emphasizing that "INTEC continues to advance with innovation, academic excellence, and social commitment," values that they said inspire them to look forward with enthusiasm.

The meeting culminated with an invitation to the entire community to share the traditional institutional breakfast, which was enlivened by the musical duo Marak, in an atmosphere of unity and Intecian pride.
