INTEC celebrates the talent of its teachers and administrative staff during Merit Week 2025.
With the “Talent Recognition” event, INTEC valued the human effort that sustains the academic and administrative quality of the university
SANTO DOMINGO. - Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) recognized the excellence, commitment and innovation of its teaching and administrative staff during the ceremony "Talent Recognition" held during Merit Week in La Colmena 2025The event was held at the Rodolfo Wehe Auditorium at ROWE Laboratories.
In the event held to value the human effort that sustains the academic and administrative quality of the university, the interim rector, Alliet Ortega, stated, “Today we celebrate more than individual achievements; we recognize the pillars that support our university as a system.”
Ortega noted that the awards given during the event honor faculty members who, through dedication and service, make the university's mission a reality: to educate and train professionals committed to society; researchers who, with their talent and rigor, transform knowledge into solutions to the country's challenges; and administrative and support staff, whose dedication and perseverance make it possible for ideas to be translated into results.
Recognition for teachers and coordinators
During the event they were recognized high-performing teachers in all academic areas through the Teaching Efficiency Index (IED). Of the Area of Health Sciences was recognizedó a Hugo Disla, Jaime Jorge Manzur, Priscila Sepúlveda, Inés Abinader y Yun Kim; of the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities the recognized ones were Irene Machado, Rebeca Rodríguez, Blas Valenzuela, Anazario León y Jael Alevante.
From Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences The teachers received the award Ulises Jauregui, Iosvani Lopez, Christopher Duran y Bladimir Gómez; also the teacher Jeanette Chaljub. Of the Area of Economy and Business The winners were Silvestre Lora, Ivan Pichardo, Mario Luciano, Phidias Diaz y Carlos Diloné. While the Engineering Area They recognized Diana Bueno, Michael Reyes, Elupina Almonte, Edwin Perez y Teresita Moreno.
The IED is an institutional evaluation system that measures teacher performance through various criteria. This index assesses aspects such as student evaluations, class attendance, student retention, and on-time grades, and is used to recognize high-performing teachers.
In the case of teachers recognized as “Champion Teachers”, an award that is chosen by students through a vote, were awarded Mariel Amelia Pacheco del Castillo, from the Health Sciences Area, recognized for the fifth consecutive time; Nehomar Lezama Timaure, from the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences, who received this recognition for the fourth time; Jenny García Torres, from the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Franklin Fernández Jiménez, from the Department of Economics and Business, and Carolina Estefanía Pérez Puerta, of the Engineering Area.
The “Major League” coordinators, also chosen by the student community to highlight the academic program coordinators were: Roberto Quiñones, from the Area of Basic and Environmental Sciences; Suzanna Guerrero, from the Health Sciences Area; Jael Alevante, from the Area of Social Sciences and Humanities; Ingrid Gonzalez, from the Department of Economics and Business, and Yanay Ruiz, of the Engineering Area.
Outstanding researchers In the category of Distinguished Researcher, the teachers were recognized Maria Penkova Vassileva, Berniza Milagros Calderón Pineda y Miguel Euclides Aybar Mejía, for his scientific contributions and projects with social and productive impact.
Distinctions were also awarded to administrative collaborators representing the institutional values of Empathy, Excellence, Responsibility, and Reliability. The winners were: Alexis Paniagua (Empathy), Operations and Logistics; Melvin Rodríguez (Excellence), by Captaciion and Admissions; Carlos Mojica (Liability) of the Audiovisual Unit; Karen Mendez (Security and Reliability), Operations and Logistics y José González , the Star of Service, belonging to the Directorate of Institutional Communication.
The teams that contributed most to the institutional achievements of 2024 were also recognized, including the temporary teams of Reaccreditation of the Medicine degree and the Seal Matching RD, as well as those involved in the projects Learning Factory and Apollo 27. The Information Technology Directorate received the award for Permanent Team with the greatest contribution, while the Department of Continuing Education received the award Service Star as a team.
During the ceremony, a minute of silence was observed in honor of INTEC Rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez, who passed away last May while in office. He was a leader in the achievements of the INTEC community during 2024.
