INTEC celebrates 51 years of foundation and presents institutional strategy 2023-2027


SANTO DOMINGO. - The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) celebrated the fifty-first anniversary of its foundation, with its traditional institutional breakfast, in which the Strategic plan from the university for the period 2023 am - 2027 pm which has among its purposes that the institution continues to “shape the future.”

During the event, tribute was paid to engineer Rafael Marion-Landais, member founder from the university, his third rector y first president of the Board of Regents, who died last Monday, October 2, 2023, at 80 years of age.

Addressing a few words to the Intec community, rector Julio Sánchez Maríñez said that INTEC has a tradition of strategic planning that is renewed every five years. He maintained that the 2023-2027 Institutional Strategy received a special delivery, because it was the one that would correspond to the fiftieth anniversary and "we knew that we were going to release it in the first year of the next fifty of INTEC."

Sánchez Maríñez pointed out that the new institutional strategy was supported by the original mission of INTEC, to be an institution that contributes to the social transformation of the country and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, through higher education, science and technologies.

He highlighted that INTEC seeks to remain an always innovative and differentiated institution with four great purposes, “the first, to be a leader due to its training in scientific and technological activities; A second purpose is to ratify or establish the university as a preferred partner of the government, business and civil society sectors, in projects for competitive and sustainable development. A third great purpose is to develop INTEC as a demanding, but welcoming institution, and a fourth purpose is to be a space deserving of the moral and material support of society, for its continuity and development,” said the rector.

In the activity, in which the academic authorities, founding members of the Board of Regents, past rectors, collaborators, graduates and students were present, the rector indicated that a management system is designed in which as much emphasis is placed on the formulation of the Strategy to identify strategic projects and operational plans.

Sánchez Maríñez celebrated the recognition of INTEC among the five best universities in the Caribbean region by the British firm Quacquarelli Symonds and first place in the country, for the second consecutive year.

The anniversary breakfast was attended by the past rectors Altagracia López and Miguel Escala; the president of the Board of Regents José Manuel Santos, the vice president of that organization, Rosalina Perdomo, as well as Ana María Ramos and Laura Acra, past presidents of the Board of Regents.
