INTEC celebrates 48th anniversary with emotional virtual act
Santo Domingo. - Not even the most unexpected or difficult conditions could break the bond that unites the Intecians and the Intecianos: a community that is ready to take on new challenges, give everything for everything, and that is approaching its half century stepping firmly, more committed and constantly renewing itself.
This was demonstrated on October 9 when in an emotional act performed virtuallyDue to the social distancing imposed by COVID-19, the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) celebrated its 48 years of foundation, remembering that October 1972 when a group of young professionals began the history of the hive.
“The anniversary event is an act of introspection, of encountering our past and glimpsing what awaits us as the future. It is interesting to think that our first rector said that INTEC is an act of rebellion against an inoperative higher education system, and years later our second rector said that INTEC was a space where imagination and innovation were the rules of the game ”, said Rolando Guzmán, rector of the academy, when addressing a message to the community.
He stressed that it is interesting now, with the benefit of almost five decades, to think that INTEC has lived up to the expectations of its founders. “Every year INTEC has been fulfilling its commitment to society, it has prepared to be better and better. The most important thing for me is to know that today as it has always been, the best of INTEC is yet to come ”.
In the anniversary ceremony, Altagracia López Ferreiras, former rector of the university, stressed that after so many years there are traditions that cannot be forgotten. “The Hive will always be united on the Anniversary. That is the essence, to constantly renew ourselves ”.
In addition, with the protocol health measures, during the activity the customary act of raising the flags was carried out, which this year was carried out by the educator José Agustín de Miguel, and the internal messengers Leonte Bautista and Ramona Cuello, who have more than 40 years of uninterrupted service in the institution; In addition, the collaborator Yahaira Lebrón participated, who was recognized with the Golden Bee in Service award, during the Outstanding Collaborator Award 2020.
The collaborators joined the traditional anniversary act through a live broadcast on the university's YouTube channel and took advantage of the moment to express their satisfaction at belonging to the institution, through an active chat.
