INTEC expands its range of 2 + 2 Programs
Santo Domingo. From the 2008 the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) includes in its academic offer the opportunity to study engineering in the modality of the “2 + 2 Program” that allows to realize the first two basic years of career in the campus of INTEC, and the remaining two in a university of the United States, which finally guarantees the degree to the student.
This year the agreement expands. So far, seven engineering projects with degrees from Pennsylvania State University (PennState) were offered: Aerospace, Bioengineering, Computational Engineering (hardware), Biological, Nuclear, Chemistry and Engineering Sciences. As of August, 2012 INTEC will also offer Architectural Engineering and Environmental Engineering with the University of Miami (UM). Both institutions (PennState and UM) are recognized among leading US universities.
Architectural Engineering covers subjects from different disciplines, such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and provides the graduate with a comprehensive view of buildings.
For its part, the Environmental Engineer can project, direct and supervise the construction and maintenance of works aimed at avoiding environmental pollution, such as urban and rural sanitation facilities, works for water management and treatment. It can also perform arbitrations and expert reports related to the quality of production processes and the impact of engineering works on the environment.
In 2011, the University of Miami was ranked by US News & World Report at number 38 on its list of best universities in the United States, and as the best university in the entire State of Florida.
The registration and enrollment conditions of the 2 + 2 Programs during the first two years are subject to the conditions of the INTEC, while the admission and maintenance in PennState and the UM to complete the following years of the races, are carried out under their standards .
