INDRHI and INTEC sign agreement
The National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) agreed to coordinate actions to develop institutional capacities and generate technology transfer to strengthen human resources training and research in water resources management, hydrology, hydraulics and water services.
Through an agreement, signed by Frank Rodríguez, director of INDRHI, and Rolando M. Guzmán, rector of INTEC, the institutions commit themselves to develop an agenda of short courses and specialized training both for INDRHI staff and for INTEC students through internship programs, diploma courses and master's degrees in hydrology, water resources management and hydraulic works.
The staff of INDRHI and other institutions of the Water sector will participate in the regular postgraduate and master's programs of INTEC in the areas of structural engineering, sanitary and environmental engineering and construction management.
The agreement also includes the use of laboratories and equipment from both institutions for research projects and technical publications on surface and underground hydrology, computer applications in hydrological and hydrogeological assessments, design of hydraulic and river works, and socio-economic aspects related to water users, water user organizations and water service providers, among other topics.
INTEC will support the consolidation of the process of decentralization of INDRHI irrigation services by offering training in administration, business and finance to irrigation user organizations through the Agribusiness Management Centers (CEGA) and the Audiovisual Centers - Libraries ( CABI) and the Center for the Sustainable Management of Water Resources in the Caribbean Island States (CEHICA).
The signing ceremony was attended by Carlos Cordero, dean of the INTEC Engineering Department and Raúl Pérez Durán, of the INDRHI Planning Management, among others.
